Studio One Roots Part 2

Studio One Roots Part 2

This Part 2 of my exploration of the conscious and roots music produced and released by Coxsone Dodd for Studio One and his other associated labels.  This one begins in the early 70s, delving into some of Dodd’s more straight-forwardly “roots” sounding productions; it then moves into the rocksteady revival that occurred when Studio One re-located to Brooklyn, New York and began re-visiting their older riddims with new artists who had a new message.  It ends with Jah Mike’s beautiful “Humble Yourself,” which marked an entirely new sound for Dodd’s venerable label.  Please listen here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/deadlydragonsoundsystem/episodes/2018-06-14T23_26_58-07_00
